Much has been written about the subject over the years. Women’s health and wellness is affected by the amount of excess weight they may have, relative to their body frame. I have no intention of adding to the knowledge or contributing to the various debates about the way weight loss is achieved.
About two thirds of adults in the U.S. are overweight or have obesity. Achieving a healthy weight can help you control your cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar. It might also help you prevent weight-related diseases, such as heart disease , diabetes, arthritis and some cancers.
As women we are generally more aware of our health than men, and are aware of the effects that weight can have on [not only] our health but also our self esteem and general well being. I would like to share with you what has worked for me in my own pursuit of health, weight maintenance and weight loss during my own life, and as a woman concerned with women’s health, wellness and well being.

There is a weight loss program around every corner. I have searched the internet and come up with a little information that may help you.
Weight Loss for Teens
For instance there is a Weight Assessment for Teen and Child Health Program at the University of California-San Francisco. The Program runs until obese children younger than 18 enough weight loss.
It is a Family-oriented medical program and Insurance is accepted. A Physician referral required. If you live in this area ask your doctor for more details. If you don’t see if you have a comparable program running in your area Better options than fasting.
Boost your protein intake. Protein has half the calories of fat; protein fosters satiety more than carbohydrates and requires more calories to digest than either fat or carbohydrates.
At Washington’s MedStar Obesity Institute, physician Richard Atkinson offers obese and overweight patients a regimen of up to 35 percent of daily calories as protein, mainly fish, nonfat and low-fat dairy foods and lean poultry and meat. Check with your doctor first if you have kidney or other health problems, Atkinson says, “Space meals out.” Doing so is a kind of modified fast. If you can skip a meal comfortably and it doesn’t cause you to compensate by having two rolls and a doughnut a few hours later, then do it.
Eat more green vegetables. They’re extremely low in calories, high in volume and loaded with vitamins and phytonutrients. Become more active. Burning more calories is absolutely critical to weight loss and avoiding extra pounds. If you exercise consistently them you will automatically burn calories for some hours afterwards.
What’s the newest tool in the fight against fat?
Here’s some information I found at other sites that may help you!! Convenience, low cost, flexibility and anonymity are some of the advantages to counting calories in cyberspace, users say.
“”The beauty of an online program is its convenience,” said Susan Burke, a registered dietitian and vice president of nutrition systems with Diets, the largest subscription-based online diet site. “The model of having to attend a meeting can be inconvenient and expensive, too.”
Most sites are part of a program or plan that developed in the real world: Weight loss Watchers, The South Beach Diet and fitness guru Denise Austin all have popular diet sites. Today, the site offers 17 plans including the low-carbohydrate Atkins and Zone diets and Nutri System Nourish, which offers monthly pre-packaged food — and has almost 1.4 million subscribers from across the world.
On eDiets, members choose the diet they want to follow and customize it by answering questions about their activity levels and eating habits — eliminating meat or fish, for example, or incorporating fast-food alternatives.
All diets work, but no diet works for permanent weight loss unless you learn to make the right choices.” Dieting online is economical, too, Burke said. The basic eDiets meal plan is about $5 a week, although the name-brand diets on the site are pricier. Add about $1 a week for a fitness plan.
Being anonymous is another plus, Burke said.
“You don’t have to go and weigh in. You can participate in as many different support groups as you want, but you can do so without anybody knowing,” she said. “But, you don’t have to be anonymous. If you want to be accountable, there’s this whole group of challenge boards, where people get together and commit to being out there and posting input every day.”
While most members are women in their 20s and 30s, eDiets doesn’t target a specific demographic, Burke added.
Men can join too eDiets!!
“Obesity is an epidemic that is diagnosed in people who are younger and younger,” she said. “A lot of people have trouble staying at a healthy weight. Our original aim was to try to support these people. What we’re trying to do now is become a premier health and information Web site, where people can go to get information and tools on diets, fitness, sexual healthy, beauty and other areas.”
Here’s a rundown of some other diet:
The online site of Self magazine for women, join Denise Austin’s Fitness Forever! for about $3 a week. It includes exercises targeting the areas you choose, a personalized diet and daily motivation e-mails. Also there are calculators to figure your body mass, ideal weight, heart rate, calorie needs and other health numbers.

You can join online for as little as $5 a week. Benefits include meal plans, recipes, tracking tools, newsletters, message boards, chat rooms and other resources.
* Join the diet that says it’s not low-fat or low-carb. For a week, members get menus, shopping lists, an online diary, message boards and background and explanations about how the diet works as well as daily tips and guidance from its founder, cardiologist Dr. Arthur Agatston
